Our
"God's Word, Alive!" is committed to proclaiming the Word of God in a clear, concise and systematic manner; seeking to make the teaching practical for everyday living. This ministry is dedicated to proclaiming the truths of the Scripture; thereby, glorifying the Living God, and His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord. Ever striving to communicate in an accurate, but yet plain and unmistakable manner so that people will come to a living realization and understanding of God's plan for their lives - making a difference, and "shining as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation."
The theme Scripture of this ministry is Philippians 2:16, "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain."
Contrary to popular belief, among sinners and even among some of the saints, the Word of God is not boring, dry, irrelevant or outdated. It is the purpose of this ministry to show that God's Word is, indeed, very much alive, and that within its pages are life, light and love.
God's Word is manifold and it speaks to all people regardless of their background, age, race, education or economic status, political affiliation or any other human social factor. It is the mission of this ministry to show that the Scriptures have something to say to every person.
Every person that commits to the faithful and sincere reading, studying and personal application of the Word of God will discover and encounter its power to change their lives; both for time and eternity. To those who adhere to its instructions and exhortations they, too, will be able to rejoice in the day of Christ.
"God's Word, Alive!" Bible teacher, Velma Sanders, is a testimony to the sovereign will of God to "call teachers" into His ministry. She is a witness to the changing power and the mighty keeping power of God in a life. A teacher at heart, she taught many years in home Bible studies and is currently serving faithfully in the Christian Education Department of the local church which she attends. Velma Sanders is a frequent speaker at various teaching conferences and has devoted her days to the clear practical application of God's Word in her life, and seeks to persuade others to follow in this way.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Bible - "God's Word, Alive!" believes that the Scriptures of the Bible are Holy. This ministry believes that "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God," and that men were used as instruments of God to write them, and were, thereby "moved by the Holy Spirit." The Old Testament and the New Testament are given to man, by God, that we may know Him through the redemptive work of His Son, Jesus Christ. The Scriptures have been given, as well, for practical instruction in living the Christian life.
The Triune God - "God's Word, Alive!" believes that there is one true and living God, who is eternally existent in three distinct Persons: God, The Father; God, The Son; and, God, The Holy Spirit.
God, The Father - Is all powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. He is sovereign over all of His creation. He is perfect in all of His ways and is working all things together unto His own glory.
God, The Son - The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God; worthy of glory, honor and praise. The Son of God became a man, without ceasing to be God; that He might make a way for sinful man to be redeemed back to God. He accomplished this work through His substitutionary death on
God, The Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is in the world convicting it of sin. He quickens and gives new life to those who repent of their sins and place faith in Jesus Christ. He indwells the individual Believer, at the moment of salvation, and baptizes the Believer into the Body of Christ. It is the Spirit of God who seals and abides within the Believer until the day of redemption. He bestows upon the Believer spiritual gifts and He fills, and controls those who yield to Him.
Man - Man was created by God; in His image and in His likeness. Through man's disobedience he sinned and became spiritually dead; separated from God. The only way that man can be reconciled to God is by being born again through repentance towards sin and faith in Jesus Christ.
Salvation - Salvation is a gift from God. It cannot be earned by human works or by good deeds, but is freely given to those who have faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins. Once a person is truly born again, they are eternally secure from the wrath of God, and from everlasting damnation.
Christian Responsibility - Each person who is born again is called into a personal and intimate relationship with God. The Believer is to continually strive, through the power of the Spirit of God, to love God and to obey Him. The individual Believer is to commune regularly with God through prayer and through the study of His Word. In obedience to God, the Christian should be actively involved and in fellowship with a local church. Believers have been commissioned by Jesus Christ to proclaim the good news of salvation to others.
